New kind of flu shot is on the way as the FDA approves Moderna's mRNA-based vaccine

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Moderna's new mRNA-based influenza vaccine, named mFlusiva, marking the introduction of a new kind of flu shot. The vaccine is specifically intended for adults aged 50 and older.

Following the regulatory approval announced late Wednesday, Moderna stated that it expects some supply of the new mRNA flu vaccine to become available soon at select retail locations.
