FDA assigns highest-risk Class I status for recall of nearly 1.6 million cartons of eggs

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has assigned a Class I status to the recall of nearly 1.6 million cartons of eggs.

A Class I recall represents the highest-risk category issued by the agency. According to the FDA, this designation is used in situations where there is a reasonable probability that exposure to the recalled product will result in serious adverse health consequences or death.
