Federal officials announce water cuts as Colorado River supplies continue to plunge

On Friday, federal officials announced sharp water cuts for the next two years affecting three Western states—California, Nevada, and Arizona—that rely on the imperiled Colorado River. The announcement comes as supplies in the river continue to plunge.

Under the Bureau of Reclamation's plan, the three states will collectively reduce their water use by 1.25 million acre-feet.
