FG targets steady power for 30% of health facilities by 2027 amid PHC electricity gap

The Nigerian Federal Government has announced a strategic target to provide consistent electricity to 30 percent of the nation's primary and tertiary health facilities by 2027. This initiative aims to address a significant infrastructure deficit currently impacting the healthcare sector.

According to government official Salako, the current state of power supply in the country is critical, with 60 to 70 percent of health facilities suffering from frequent outages or a complete lack of electricity. This target represents a formal effort to mitigate the operational challenges posed by the ongoing power gap in Nigeria's healthcare system.
