Finjus questions JCE's authority to sanction for publishing polls

The Institutional and Justice Foundation (Finjus) has publicly challenged the authority of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) regarding its power to impose sanctions for the publication of electoral polls. The organization asserts that the JCE must operate strictly within the boundaries established by the Constitution and existing national laws when exercising its regulatory functions.

Finjus specifically questioned the JCE’s use of internal regulations as a basis for these sanctions. The foundation argues that such administrative measures cannot supersede constitutional and legal mandates, suggesting that the current regulatory approach to polling oversight may exceed the board's legal jurisdiction.
