UNIFIL warns that the situation in southern Lebanon remains fragile and records 1,000 projectiles in 7 days

On Friday, August 28, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that the security situation in southern Lebanon remains highly fragile. Over a recent seven-day period, the peacekeeping mission recorded the launch of more than 1,000 projectiles, averaging approximately 147 strikes per day.

This ongoing military activity occurs despite a framework agreement reached between the governments of Lebanon and Israel in June, which included provisions for a ceasefire.
