ST JAMES, Jamaica — A commercial building in Ducketts, Cambridge in St James was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning in a blaze of unknown origin. According to the Jamaica Fire Brigade, firefighters were alerted to the fire at approximately 4:25 am. Two units from the Montego Bay Fire Station responded to the emergency.
When firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames. After nearly three hours of firefighting, they managed to extinguish the blaze. The building was reportedly home to a bar, restaurant and mini-mart on the ground floor, while the upper level contained several rooms.
The building and its contents are believed to be uninsured. A team of investigators from the Jamaica Fire Brigade has been dispatched to the scene.
