(Sabah CM department pic)PETALING JAYA: Floods in Tawau, Sabah, and parts of Melaka have forced hundreds of residents to be evacuated to relief centres following hours of continuous heavy rain.Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor said 335 people in Tawau have been relocated to the Tawau sports complex multipurpose hall as of 11am.In a statement, Hajiji said he has ordered the state disaster command centre to keep a close eye on the situation in Tawau, which was declared a disaster zone this morning."All relevant agencies have been deployed to the affected areas. I want them to be prepared to provide immediate assistance to the flood victims," he said.Separately, the Melaka disaster management committee said two relief centres have been opened in Melaka Tengah and Jasin, with one sheltering 15 flood victims and the other still registering evacuees.Bernama reported that Melaka has been experiencing heavy rain since early this morning.
