The state of Florida executed 77-year-old William Reaves on Tuesday for the 1986 fatal shooting of a police officer. Reaves, a military veteran, was the eighteenth individual to be executed in the state during the current calendar year. The execution was carried out in Florida following his long-standing conviction for the crime committed nearly four decades ago.
