'Necessary': Florida State University fires athletic director Michael Alford

(WFLA) — Florida State University announced on Monday that Michael Alford would no longer serve as vice president and director and intercollegiate athletics for the school. FSU President Richard McCullough said in a press conference that Alford was dismissed "without cause." The change is in effect as of Monday, Sept. “As we begin this transition, our focus remains on the success of our teams and continuing to provide every competitive advantage we can to our student-athletes, coaches, and staff.”
