KINGSTON, Jamaica — A former Jamaica Defence Force soldier and his ex-wife, both 25, were found dead inside their Georgia apartment on Monday as US authorities investigate what police believe was a domestic incident. The deceased have been identified as Leon Anthony Myers and Celeste Cyan Morgan of the Camelia Apartments on Altama Avenue in Glynn County. Myers was originally from Brandon Hill, near the St Andrew-St Mary border.
Glynn County Police Department officers made the discovery after conducting a welfare check at the apartment shortly after 4:00 pm Monday. Police said they entered the unit due to “exigent circumstances” — an emergency requiring immediate action — and found Myers and Morgan dead inside. "The deceased were previously married to each other, and the incident appears to have been domestic in nature,” the department said in a statement.
Authorities have not released details on what prompted the welfare check or whether any weapons were recovered. Police said they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to residents of the apartment complex or surrounding community. The causes and manner of death have not been officially determined.
Autopsies are being conducted as detectives investigate the circumstances leading up to the deaths.
