Grange saddened by passing of former national footballer, Keith Lattimore

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange says she is deeply saddened by the passing of former national footballer, Keith Lattimore. Lattimore, who was popularly called ‘Danny’, died at hospital on Friday. Minister Grange said Lattimore is to be remembered as one of those footballers who did more than represent his country and club with distinction but also contributed significantly as a coach.

“His work at the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) as a sports officer further reflected a lifelong commitment to the development of sport and the nurturing of talent at every level. He also worked as a sports reporter for Radio Jamaica. “On behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and to the football fraternity.

“Rest in peace, Keith ‘Danny’ Lattimore, your contribution to sports, particularly to football, is truly appreciated and will long be remembered.” Former national player and footballing icon Keith Lattimore has died. Lattimore was one of the legendary football players of his generation, alongside his brother Arthur Lattimore.

He played for Liguanea FC and was known for his long throws, as well as being a very talented striker. Lattimore ventured into coaching and led Portmore Striker to the Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League crown in 2002. He played for RJR 720 Kickers, winning the Tourers Masters League.

He also worked at the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) as a sports officer until he retired.
