France: Most of 224,000 evacuees allowed to return home after devastating fires

Authorities in France have authorized the return of the majority of 224,000 individuals who were previously evacuated due to widespread wildfires. The decision follows extensive firefighting efforts to contain the blazes that have impacted various regions across the country.

Despite the general progress, localized threats persist. A wildfire in the southeastern Var department, previously reported as controlled, reignited on Friday and necessitated the overnight evacuation of approximately 2,500 residents.
