French Parliament’s committee approves social media ban for under-15s

France's parliament is set to approve a social media ban for children under 15 on Tuesday after lawmakers from the upper and lower houses reached a compromise on the bill's text Monday. If the bill is approved, France will become the first country in Europe to put such a ban in place. Under-15s will be banned from social media in France.

Passed by parliament, President Emmanuel Macron said that he’d want the ban to take effect by the start of the new school year in September. A noble endeavour, but one that lacks strong implementation as yet worldwide.
