Government announced security reinforcement for the 10 mayors of southern Bolívar: “Not a single one in the red zone had an armored vehicle from the UNP”

The national government of Colombia has announced an immediate reinforcement of security measures for the ten mayors governing municipalities in the southern region of Bolívar. Authorities have designated this area as a high-priority zone due to the active presence of armed criminal structures operating locally.

As part of the security overhaul, officials acknowledged a severe prior deficiency in protection, revealing that not a single mayor operating within this designated "red zone" was previously equipped with an armored vehicle provided by the National Protection Unit (UNP).
