Prominent Gold Coast developer Jim Raptis has sold his waterfront mansion in Paradise Waters for approximately $18 million, one of Queensland’s largest house sales this year. The property at 141-143 Commodore Drive settled this week. Raptis, through his company Northernson Pty Ltd, purchased the block in 2002 for $3.175 million from developer Soheil Abedian.
He and his wife Helen completed their family home on the site in 2006. 141-143 Commodore Drive, Paradise Waters. The four-bedroom residence features formal and informal living areas, a theatre, wine cellar, gymnasium, sauna, heated marble flooring, four ensuite suites, a library, rooftop terrace, two home offices, an infinity-edge pool and spa, a BBQ pavilion, and manicured gardens with wide river views.
The Raptis family have been long-term Paradise Waters residents and have owned several properties in the enclave over the past 40 years. The home was sold by Russell Rollington and Bob Rollington of Surfers Paradise First National. The agents confirmed the settlement and said both buyer and seller were long-term clients of the office, with all parties pleased with the outcome.
Paradise Waters is a tightly held waterfront enclave of around 320 homes, popular with high-profile Gold Coast residents including Mayor Tom Tate, developer Danny Andrews and the Puljich family. “Paradise Waters offers a premium Gold Coast lifestyle… walking distance to the beach, Main Beach shops and cafes and direct boating access to the Broadwater,” Russell Rollington said. “Once someone moves into Paradise Waters they never leave, which speaks volumes.” Raptis has been a major force in Gold Coast high-rise development since the 1970s and has successfully rebuilt his business after periods of administration.
