Govt warns fake seed dealers

The Tanzanian government has issued a formal warning to individuals engaged in the production and distribution of counterfeit seeds. Agriculture Minister Daniel Chongolo announced the crackdown during the official inauguration of Seed Co Tanzania in Arusha, emphasizing that the government intends to take strict action against those involved in the illicit trade.

The initiative aims to protect the agricultural sector from malpractice that negatively impacts farmers and undermines national crop production. By targeting the supply chain of fake seeds, authorities seek to ensure the integrity of agricultural inputs and safeguard food security efforts.
