Granada and its surrounding metropolitan area experienced a sequence of 40 earthquakes during the early hours of a Saturday, preceded by a magnitude 5 tremor with its epicenter in Alhendín at 1:04 a.m.

The repeated seismic activity throughout the night prompted local authorities to begin assessing material damages caused by the tremors in the affected region.
