Costa Rica registers an 18% increase in dengue cases in 2026 and exceeds 2,400 infections

Costa Rica has recorded an 18 percent increase in reported dengue cases compared to the same period in 2025, surpassing 2,400 total infections. According to an official report issued by the Ministry of Health for the 29th epidemiological week of 2026, the country's cumulative count has reached over 2,400 cases as the public health challenge continues.

Separately, Guatemala is managing an active measles outbreak that has accumulated 31,140 confirmed cases and 32 deaths up to July 30, 2026. Although the outbreak remains active nationwide, health authorities note a sustained decrease following the transmission peak observed between the 16th and 18th epidemiological weeks.
