In a social media tribute, Williams acknowledged that she initially hesitated to comment on his death, stating she was unsure if it was appropriate to do so before ultimately sharing her thoughts.

Williams expressed deep appreciation for Gilbert, stating that she will forever be grateful for him. The two musicians were previously in a relationship spanning a decade, from 2007 to 2017, during which time Gilbert made a notable impact on the hardcore music scene through his work with New Found Glory.
