Holborn and St Pancras byelection loss will disappoint Greens – but there may also be relief

Labour candidate Abdi-Wali successfully fended off a challenge from the Green Party to win the Holborn and St Pancras byelection. The defeat leaves Green representative Zack Polanski securing second place in the contest.

While a loss inherently brings disappointment for the Green Party, the outcome provides a measure of relief for Polanski following what has been described as the most challenging week of his political career.
