Police in Homestead arrested a mother and her son on child abuse charges. Leer en españolOfficers with the Homestead Police Department said they took Rebecca Bouie, 37, and Jamaury Elijah Benoit, 19, into custody on Monday after they said the 8-year-old victim reported the abuse while she was at school. According to police, the child said her mother, Bouie, and brother, Benoit, “hit her with a belt on her arms, legs and abdomen,” according to an arrest report, which also stated, “The victim has multiple healed patterned markings on her arms, legs, and abdomen consistent with having been struck with a belt.”The victim also told police that Benoit would “bound her wrists and ankles together with shoelaces” and left her like that for at least an hour, the arrest report states.
Additionally, records revealed that in January, Benoit was arrested for child abuse on the same victim and was issued a non-expiring stay away order, which said he could not have any contact with the victim.Investigators then discovered that at some point after the order was issued, Bouie allowed Benoit back into the home where the victim also lived. Jail records show Bouie is facing felony charges of child abuse with no great bodily harm and child neglect with no great bodily harm, while Benoit was charged with a felony count of aggravated child abuse or torture with great bodily harm and a misdemeanor charge of violation of a domestic violence injunction. As of Thursday morning, both were being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with Bouie on a $5,000 bond and Benoit’s bond listed as “to be set.” .l10-neighborhood, .l10-neighborhood * { box-sizing: border-box; } .l10-neighborhood{ --blue-dark:#0d2c73; --blue:#1f57c4; --blue-light:#3370e6; --gray-bg:#f2f3f5; --gray-border:#d6d8dc; --text-dark:#1a1a1a; --white:#ffffff; font-family:system-ui,-apple-system,"Segoe UI",Roboto,Arial,sans-serif; max-width:860px; margin:1.5rem auto; border-radius:10px; overflow:hidden; border:1px solid var(--gray-border); background:var(--gray-bg); box-shadow:0 4px 14px rgba(0,0,0,.12); text-align:center; } .l10-head{ background:linear-gradient(90deg,var(--blue-dark),var(--blue)); color:var(--white); padding:12px 16px; font-weight:800; text-transform:uppercase; font-size:1rem; letter-spacing:.3px; display:flex; justify-content:center; align-items:center; gap:8px; } .l10-body{ max-width:740p…
A South Florida mother is facing charges over allegedly abusing her 10-year-old daughter. Leer en españolDeputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said they took 42-year-old Ketsia Pierre Paul of northwest Miami-Dade into custody on Monday. According to investigators, officials at the girl’s school contacted the Department of Children and Families after observing “multiple marks on her neck, arms and chest which appeared to be burn marks.” Authorities had the girl examined by the Child Protection Team, who advised deputies the girl was “covered in scars, scarred abrasions, and a keloid scar, which were consistent with being hit with a telephone charging cord.”When detectives spoke with the girl, they said she told them she was being abused at home “almost daily” with a phone charging cord, but was afraid to say who her abuser was, only that her abuser’s name started with the letter “K”.Deputies wrote in Pierre Paul’s arrest report that she was the only person who lived with the girl whose name began with the letter “K”.
When investigators spoke with Pierre Paul, she admitted to seeing the injuries on the child, but said she “never sought out medical attention or to inquire who was harming her child,” according to her arrest report. Jail records show she is facing felony charges of aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm and child neglect with great bodily harm. As of Thursday morning, Pierre Paul was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with bond listed as “to be set.” .l10-neighborhood, .l10-neighborhood * { box-sizing: border-box; } .l10-neighborhood{ --blue-dark:#0d2c73; --blue:#1f57c4; --blue-light:#3370e6; --gray-bg:#f2f3f5; --gray-border:#d6d8dc; --text-dark:#1a1a1a; --white:#ffffff; font-family:system-ui,-apple-system,"Segoe UI",Roboto,Arial,sans-serif; max-width:860px; margin:1.5rem auto; border-radius:10px; overflow:hidden; border:1px solid var(--gray-border); background:var(--gray-bg); box-shadow:0 4px 14px rgba(0,0,0,.12); text-align:center; } .l10-head{ background:linear-gradient(90deg,var(--blue-dark),var(--blue)); color:var(--white); padding:12px 16px; font-weight:800; text-transform:uppercase; font-size:1rem; letter-spacing:.3px; display:flex; justify-content:center; align-items:center; gap:8px; } .l10-body{ max-width:740px; margin:0 auto; padding:0 16px 18px; } .l10-sub{ margin:12px 0 10px; font-size:.95rem;…
