Honduras: Salvador Nasralla rejects L146 million fine and denounces attempt to sideline him from 2029

The Unidad de Financiación Transparencia y Fiscalización (UFTF) in Honduras announced a fine of 146.4 million lempiras, equivalent to approximately 5.4 million dollars, against Salvador Nasralla, the presidential candidate for the Liberal Party. The penalty was issued on Thursday, September 17, following irregularities detected during the fiscalization of his 2025 electoral campaign.

In response to the sanction, Nasralla publicly rejected the findings and the resulting multimillion-lempira fine. He further denounced the measure as a deliberate attempt to sideline him and bar him from participating in future political processes leading up to the year 2029, while maintaining that he will continue his political career despite the penalty.
