The Hang Seng Tech Index, which currently tracks the 30 largest technology companies listed in Hong Kong, is planning a significant expansion to its composition and thematic focus. The index intends to increase its scope by adding 20 additional companies to better reflect the evolving landscape of the technology industry.

In addition to the expansion of its constituent list, the index will overhaul its six existing tech themes. This update will incorporate artificial intelligence and robotics, joining current categories such as digital platforms, advanced hardware, cloud computing, and frontier technology.
