Salvador B. Gautier Hospital performs first corneal transplant

The Hospital Salvador Bienvenido Gautier in the Dominican Republic successfully performed its first-ever corneal transplant. The milestone medical procedure was announced on a Sunday by hospital officials.

The recipient of the transplant was a female patient over the age of 60. She had previously lost her vision in both eyes due to complications arising from prior surgeries.
