Hospitals report 50% fewer Haitian women giving birth

Between January and July 2026, the number of births to Haitian mothers in Dominican public hospitals decreased by 50.4 percent compared to the same period in 2025. According to data from the National Health Service (SNS), the total number of these births dropped from 11,951 to 5,931.

This statistical shift represents a significant reduction in the volume of obstetric services provided to this demographic within the public health network over the first seven months of the year.
