Kazakhstan’s Energy Modernization: Balancing Affordable Power and Long-Term Reliability

Kazakhstan has launched a major national modernization program aimed at upgrading the country’s aging energy and utilities infrastructure. The initiative, valued at 13 trillion tenge, or approximately US$27.3 billion, represents one of the largest infrastructure projects currently underway in the nation.

The primary objective of this program is to address the dual challenge of maintaining affordable electricity prices for consumers while ensuring the long-term reliability of the national power supply. To achieve these goals, the government plans to significantly expand the scope and frequency of repairs across its energy networks.
