Hungary shuts down Paks nuclear power plant due to water shortages in the Danube

Hungary has disconnected one of the operating reactors at the Paks nuclear power plant due to a significant drop in the water level of the Danube River. The announcement was made on Sunday by Prime Minister Peter Magyar.

The Paks facility is critical to Hungary's national infrastructure, producing half of the country's total energy supply. The shutdown was necessitated by the reduced flow of the Danube, which is vital for the plant's operations.
