Hyrox athlete Joanna Wietrzyk has issued a public apology and retroactively withdrawn from a fitness competition in Beijing after experiencing a bout of faecal incontinence during the race. Wietrzyk, who initially won the event last week, continued competing despite the incident, a decision that led to criticism and public discussion.

Following the backlash, Wietrzyk returned the points she earned and forfeited her victory. In her statement, she admitted she should have stepped off the track immediately and expressed deep sorrow for the discomfort and disruption caused to others by her continuation in the race.
