ICE will only release body camera video when in agency's 'best interests,' policy says

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is implementing a new policy to equip its officers with body-worn cameras within the next two months. According to the agency's newly established guidelines, the recording devices will be deployed to increase transparency during enforcement operations.

However, the policy grants ICE broad administrative control over the public release of the recorded footage. Specifically, the guidelines stipulate that any disclosure of body camera video to the public will only occur when it is determined to be in the agency's "best interests."
