ICE will release body camera video only when seen in the agency’s ‘best interests,’ policy says

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is moving to equip its officers with body-worn cameras within the next two months. However, the agency's newly outlined policy dictates that footage will only be released to the public when deemed to be in the agency's "best interests."

Under this policy, which follows years of delay by the agency in adopting body camera technology, the public should not expect to quickly see video recordings of critical incidents. The guidelines grant the agency broad control over determining what specific footage is eventually made public.
