Madres buscadoras buscan a miles de personas desaparecidas entre inseguridad y violencia institucional

In Mexico, collective groups of mothers and families are conducting independent search efforts for the 132,836 individuals currently registered as missing or unaccounted for. These groups report that they are performing these searches due to a lack of state action, while simultaneously contending with ongoing insecurity and institutional violence during their operations.

In observance of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the Mexican Church has formally called upon the state to elevate the search for missing persons to a national priority. The Church urged society to support the families involved in these efforts, emphasizing the need for a unified national commitment to address the crisis.
