Abdul-Aziz Abdu-Rahaman has been elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper West Region, emerging victorious in the party’s regional executive elections held in Wa. Mr Abdu-Rahaman polled 173 votes to defeat his sole contender, Kantong Alaska, who secured 86 votes. The election took place at the Wa Technical Institute, where delegates also voted to elect executives who will oversee the party’s activities in the region as it begins preparations towards the 2028 general elections.

Majeed Liman was elected First Vice Chairman with 198 votes, while Philip Braimah secured 166 votes to become Second Vice Chairman. Dr Tanko Daniel Dauda won the Secretary position with 186 votes, while Alhassan Suleman was elected Treasurer after obtaining 160 votes. Hamid Saana secured the Organiser position with 138 votes, with Dodoo Sadat emerging as Youth Organiser after polling 158 votes.

Yussif Alhassan was elected Assistant Secretary with 200 votes, while Alhaji Muniru won the Nasara Organiser position with 179 votes. Nana Sadat was elected Communications Director with 185 votes, while Minata Moomen secured the Women’s Organiser position with 139 votes. The newly elected executives are expected to lead the NPP’s reorganisation and grassroots mobilisation efforts in the Upper West Region as the party works to strengthen its structures ahead of the 2028 elections.

The polls were largely peaceful, although proceedings were briefly disrupted at the Wa Technical Institute when some delegates from the Nandom Constituency interrupted the voting process. Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana has been elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savannah Region after narrowly defeating former Ghana Water Limited Managing Director Clifford Abdallah Braimah in the party’s regional executive elections. Alhaji Sulemana secured 92 votes, just four votes ahead of Dr Braimah, who polled 88 votes in the closely fought contest.

The outcome brings an end to Dr Braimah’s bid to lead the party’s regional structure, with Alhaji Sulemana now expected to oversee the NPP’s reorganisation and mobilisation activities in the Savannah Region ahead of the 2028 general elections. Aboagye Kwame won the First Vice Chairman position with 124 votes, defeating Alhaji Braimah Adam, who obtained 54 votes. Johnson Kwame Gyinde was elected Second Vice Chairman after polling 120 votes against Mahama S.

The Secretary position went to Seidu Ayuba, who secured 91 votes, narrowly beating Mohammed Issah, who polled 89 votes. Sulemana Aminu Mayoyo emerged as Deputy Secretary with 83 votes, while Sumani Inusah secured 97 votes. However, the results provided indicate an apparent inconsistency in the Deputy Secretary figures and candidate designation.
