In Zambia, Israeli team helps train country’s first generation of pediatric cardiac surgeons

An Israeli medical team is currently in Zambia to train the country’s first generation of pediatric cardiac surgeons. The initiative, facilitated by the Save a Child’s Heart program, involves a six-year fellowship designed to mentor hospital staff and build local surgical capacity. As part of the ongoing partnership, the organization has also donated new medical equipment to support the hospital's operations.

This effort is part of a broader international mission by the group, which has previously provided care to 8,500 children and trained 160 doctors across the globe. By establishing a specialized fellowship in Zambia, the program aims to create a sustainable infrastructure for pediatric heart care within the country, allowing local medical professionals to perform complex procedures independently.
