More than half of Colombia's workers remain in the informal sector, and the country lags behind the region, according to the ILO.

According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), Colombia continues to experience high levels of labor informality, with 54.3% of the workforce operating in the informal sector as of 2025. Despite positive indicators in other areas of the labor market, the country remains behind its regional peers in transitioning workers into formal employment.

In a separate development, Ecuadorian police seized 1.6 tons of cocaine in the coastal municipality of Muisne, located in the Esmeraldas province near the Colombian border. Authorities attribute the shipment to a criminal organization involved in international drug trafficking.
