Indigenous cultural burn near Osoyoos revives traditional fire stewardship

An Indigenous cultural burn took place this week in the grasslands west of Osoyoos, bringing back traditional fire stewardship practices to the area.

While the operation produces visible smoke, the controlled fire is designed to achieve broader objectives that extend well beyond standard wildfire risk reduction.
