President Abelardo de la Espriella announced new measures and confirmed the continued deployment of government resources to control the ongoing forest fire emergency in the department of Tolima, which currently has the highest number of active fires in the country. The administration reported that individuals suspected of causing the fires in Tolima have been detained, as active blazes across Tolima and Nariño—with a heavy concentration in the center of the country—have destroyed more than 27,000 hectares of vegetation and displaced numerous residents.

Simultaneously, political tensions have intensified with the formation of an opposition team. Senator and former presidential candidate Iván Cepeda publicly presented his new opposition group, named the 'Gabinete de la Vida' (Cabinet for Life), establishing a structured political counterweight to the administration of President de la Espriella.
