Deputy public prosecutor Banusha Jegathesan noted that the father had previously been accused of molesting his daughter’s child.PETALING JAYA: An Indonesian man was sentenced to 60 years in prison by the Kuala Lumpur sessions court today after pleading guilty to six counts of raping his biological daughter, resulting in the birth of a baby girl.Judge Mazuliana Abdul Rashid sentenced the 56-year-old man to 10 years’ jail and 10 strokes of the cane on each count and ordered the prison sentences to run consecutively from the date of his arrest on July 23.The accused was charged with raping his daughter, now 19, at a condominium unit at Taman Midah, Kuala Lumpur, between Oct 2, 2021 and June 30 this year.The charges were framed under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of eight to 30 years and up to 10 strokes of the cane.Deputy public prosecutor Banusha Jegathesan requested a severe sentence, saying that the victim suffered from severe depression as a result of the repeated offences.“The accused had also previously faced an allegation of molesting the victim's child. The prosecution requests a severe sentence to serve as a lesson to the public,” he said.The accused, who was unrepresented, appealed for a lighter sentence on grounds that he has lived in the country for 43 years.
