Study of psychoactive substance use among drivers begins

The Ministry of Public Health and the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) in the Dominican Republic have launched a national study to detect the presence of psychoactive substances in drivers. The initiative focuses specifically on motorists who have been involved in traffic accidents and are receiving medical care at trauma hospitals.

The study aims to gather data on substance consumption among drivers involved in collisions. By collecting samples from patients at specialized trauma centers, the public health and drug control authorities seek to establish a clearer picture of the role psychoactive substances play in vehicular accidents across the country.
