Inoperability of treatment plants generates health crisis

Residents in the Dominican Republic are facing a health crisis linked to the inoperability of wastewater treatment plants. The situation has severely impacted the quality of life for families who purchased homes in residential sectors with the expectation of adequate infrastructure and sanitary conditions.

Simultaneously, hydraulic engineers from the Inter-American Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (Aidis) have challenged a proposal by the Santo Domingo Water and Sewer Corporation (Caasd). The proposal to transport water from the Hatillo dam to the Greater Santo Domingo area has been met with technical skepticism, as experts argue that current water resources are already sufficient.
