Interceptor 004 on the Ozama River to improve waste capture

The Ocean Cleanup and the Dominican government have announced plans to install a new waste-capture system, Interceptor 004, in the Ozama River. Scheduled for deployment in early 2027, the structure is designed to improve the collection of debris from the waterway.

Measuring 400 meters in length, the Interceptor 004 will serve as the largest barrier ever deployed by the international organization. The project represents a significant expansion of current waste-mitigation efforts in the region.
