Iran seizes assets of 240 dissidents and journalists as protest arrests top 6,000

Iranian authorities have arrested approximately 6,000 people in connection with anti-government protests and unrest that took place in January. According to the country's police chief, Ahmadreza Radan, the detainees are alleged to have been involved in the demonstrations.

In addition to the mass arrests, the Iranian judiciary has seized the assets of 240 dissidents, journalists, activists, and public figures. Authorities froze 182 bank accounts and confiscated property from individuals accused of acting in favor of hostile governments.

The crackdown also includes capital punishment, with Tehran executing at least 532 people since January. This total includes 29 individuals whose executions were directly linked to the recent protests.
