Iranian parliament votes to further criminalize interviews with US, Israeli media outlets

The Iranian parliament has voted to pass a bill that further criminalizes interviews and collaborations with United States and Israeli media outlets. Under the newly voted legislation, violations are punishable by up to two years in prison. The bill still requires review and approval by the Guardian Council before it can officially become law.

In addition to the ban on interactions with US and Israeli outlets, the legislation applies restrictions to other foreign media organizations. Conducting interviews with these remaining foreign entities will require prior notification to the Iranian intelligence ministry.
