Iraq activates Kirkuk oil field development contract with BP

On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil officially activated a major oil field development contract with British energy giant BP for the Kirkuk oilfield.

The project is designed to significantly increase crude oil production at the site, targeting an expansion from its current capacity of 320,000 barrels per day.
