Iraq launches first smart pneumatic waste collection system with Spanish backing

Iraq’s National Investment Commission, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and the Spanish Embassy, officially inaugurated the nation's first smart automated pneumatic waste collection system on Saturday, September 26. The project represents a technological shift in waste management infrastructure for the country.

The implementation of this system, referred to as URD, marks a collaborative effort between Iraqi government bodies and Spanish interests to modernize urban sanitation services in Baghdad. The launch signifies an effort to integrate automated solutions into the country's public utility framework.
