Iraq to construct six dams with Turkey and 13 rainwater harvesting barriers

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, Iraq's Ministry of Water Resources announced plans to construct six new dams in cooperation with Turkey under a bilateral framework agreement.

In addition to the dams, the ministry is advancing technical designs and assessments for 13 additional rainwater harvesting and seasonal flood barriers.
