IRD worker dismissed for medical incapacity wins job back and $30k

A long-serving employee at New Zealand's Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has successfully challenged their dismissal, winning permanent reinstatement to their position alongside $30,000 in compensation.

The worker had originally been terminated from the government agency on the grounds of medical incapacity. Following the legal challenge, the decision was overturned, resulting in the payout and the return of the staff member to their former role.
