Volcanic ash continues to disrupt flights in Indonesia, thousands stranded

Indonesia’s main airport in Jakarta has extended its closure following a volcanic eruption from Mount Anak Krakatau, located approximately 150 kilometers from the capital. The eruption, which occurred on Saturday, forced a halt in operations that has left hundreds of thousands of passengers stranded and resulted in the postponement of the airport's scheduled reopening on Monday.

The disruption has had significant international repercussions, leading to the cancellation of 41 flights to Jakarta from airports across Malaysia. Authorities are currently managing the impact on travelers as the volcanic activity continues to affect regional air travel logistics.
