The trip for two members of the JCE cost US$832 for each hour of training

Two members of the Dominican Republic's Central Electoral Board (JCE), Hirayda Fernández and Samir Chami Isa, attended the Cybersecurity Summer BootCamp in León, Spain. The institution reported a total expenditure of 33,294.27 dollars covering per diems and travel expenses for the mission, a figure that equates to approximately 832 dollars per hour of training received.

The JCE has formally defended these expenditures and the necessity of the trip, citing the importance of the institution's international responsibilities. While the board maintains that the mission was justified, the costs and duration of the travel have been subject to public scrutiny and critical reporting regarding the allocation of institutional funds.
