JCE suspends article of regulation that prohibited publication of polls

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) of the Dominican Republic has provisionally suspended a regulation that prohibited the publication and dissemination of electoral polls outside of official pre-campaign and campaign periods. This administrative action was taken while the underlying legal controversy surrounding the restriction remains under judicial review.

The decision has prompted internal debate within the five-member electoral body. Two members have publicly questioned the validity of the original prohibition, arguing that the JCE Pleno lacked the necessary consensus or authority to enforce such a restriction, highlighting ongoing institutional disagreement regarding the regulation of electoral data.
